Here is a quick recap of the Cards AZ trip. Due to a short bench, we mixed in some UFV players when needed on our trip.
Game 1 Miles CC L 10-4
First time out on a field since October. Taisei Yahiro started on the mound and had six strikeouts in three innings pitched, allowing one run. Romero Snow lead the offense with a 2-3 day and a run scoring single.
Game 2 Dakota Wesleyan JV L 11-3
Played well for six out of seven innings. Cooper Crompton threw three innings with five strikeouts allowing one run.
Liam Knight and Trey Smith had back to back triples in the third inning. Romero Snow also had 2 hits.
Game 3 Miles CC L 4-2
Grade 10 Micah Bucknam started on the mound throwing three innings allowing only two hits while striking out four. Cards struck first with a leadoff triple by Romero Snow (his fifth hit of the week to this point) later coming around to score on a Trey Smith single. For a second game against Miles CC, the Cards were able to hang with them for the entire game, with one mishap allowing four runs in one inning.
Game 4 Mount Marty JV W 14-7
Taisei Yahiro started on the mound again throwing three innings allowing only one hit and struck out two. The Cardinals pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of some MMU errors to build a big lead.
Game 5 Mount Marty JV L 8-7
All UFV arms in Game two. The Cards came out to a slow start after the W in game one of the DH. Taisei Yahiro led the offense with a 3-4 day including a double. The Cards showed they were in the game the whole way putting up six runs over the final two innings unfortunately falling just short in the end.
Game 6 California Miramar W 8-7
Cardinals finished the week strong with an 8-7 walkoff victory. Cooper Crompton started on the mound going four innings. Treyden Pastro threw two quick innings following Crompton and Patrick Tangen picked up the win throwing the 7th inning before the Cards offense exploded for four runs in the bottom half. Liam Knight and Taisei Yahiro each had two hits in the victory including a triple for Taisei. Chad Pedersen came up with the bases loaded and one run already in for the Cards. On an 0-2 pitch, he lined a base hit to left field and it got by the left fielder and rolled all the way to the wall bringing in Liam Knight, Zach Chaba and Trey Smith who drew a big two-out walk prior to Chad’s at bat.
