The boys arrived Saturday and got some much needed rest after a long travel day. Sunday morning we were up and headed to the park for our first field practice of the year. The boys had a good work out and were excited to play our first game of the year. We came out ready and beat a very good Miles CC baseball team 7-0. The game was well pitched and the boys showed they were ready by swinging the bats and being very aggressive at the plate.
Game 2 saw Miles CC ready to go and we dropped a very competitive game 7-4. Our second game of the day, again against Miles, was a very close game right through to the end and just had us coming up short in a 4-2 loss.
Game 4 against Presentation University our guys came out ready to go, and saw us take a 10-6 win with the boys playing very well and both side of the field.
Game 5 was another rematch with Miles CC, and it was a great game going back and forth with chances with Miles getting a late lead 4-1 going into the bottom half of the 7th inning. It was an exciting finish for the Cascades as our boys kept grinding out at bats, and with 2 outs and runners at 2nd and 3rd we got a clutch hit to win in a walk off 6-4. A very exciting game and some great compete by our guys to pull of the walk off win.
Game 6 you could see some fatigue start to set in and we dropped a close game to North Western College 7-6 to put us at 3-3 to that point.
Thursday morning the boys were on the field and had a great practice in preparation for a 3 pm game against Cal Miramar out of San Diego, again a very tough team and a game that went back and forth with the boys coming out on top with a 5-4 win.
Friday afternoon had us playing our last game of the week and the guys came out ready to play and scored early coming away in the end with a 9-4 victory putting us at 5-3 for the week.
It has been a great week with all players competing hard and showed great improvement as the week went on. This week was a great chance to start our preparation for the upcoming season and the boys look ready to go to make a run at a National Championship. Thank you, Shawn Corness
